Monday: Kick-Ass managed to come out on top this weekend with final tallies putting it at $19.8 million, topping How to Train Your Dragon's $19.6 million. (It's getting annoying trying to keep up with these too close to call weekends).
----
Sunday:
In another "too close to call weekend," How to Train Your Dragon is currently holding off newcomer, Kick Ass by $250 thousand. Which, like last weekend, could change by Monday.
Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon is currently holding up well at the box office only dropping 20% from last weekend. Kick-Ass has made less than I expected, probably due to parental complaints about it's violent nature (even though it is rated R).
Weekend Estimates:
How to Train Your Dragon: $20 million ($158.6 million total)
Kick-Ass: $19.8 million ($19.8 million total)
Date Night: $17.3 million ($49.2 million total)
Death at a Funeral: $17 million ($17 million total)
Clash of the Titans: $15.7 million ($133 million total)
Previous post-----
A couple of new movies open this weekend.
Kick-Ass
Why it might be a hit: Trailer looks awesome. Hollywood finally taking some chances.
Why it might tank: Has a very niche audience, and most of the general public may not get it's humor.
Death at a Funeral
Why it might be a hit: Looks kind of funny.
Why it might tank: Looks kind of funny.
My Predictions:
Kick-Ass: $28 million
Death at a Funeral: $16 million
How to Train Your Dragon: $14 million
Clash of the Titans $13 million
Date Night: $13 million
