The French band Phoenix's latest opus is perhaps their most perfectly mainstream wonder. I say this because, well, their song, 1901, recently has been on heavy rotation on the radio station KROQ (a very mainstream rock station in California, for those that don't know). I guess they are trying to find a replacement for overplaying MGMT's Kids.
Anyways, I did enjoy Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (incase you were wondering), even towards the end where the songs seem a bit more "look at me, I'm indie-emotional." Definitely check it out if you do like MGMT, Friendly Fires, and even Late of the Pier. They're certainly all in very similar company.
