The graphic novel turned movie, Watchmen, unsurprisingly took the top spot this weekend as no other new movies stood in its way. However, it made a little less than expected and well short of Zack Snyder's previous effort, 300, which took in around $70 on its opening weekend. This might have something to do with the so-so reviews from critics and also it's 2 hour 41 minute running time.
Meanwhile, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience continues to slip as it dropped to 9th place with $2.8 million ($16.8 million total).
Weekend Estimates:
Watchmen: $55.7 million ($55.7 million total)
Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail: $8.8 million ($76.5 million)
Taken: $7.5 million ($118 million total)
Slumdog Millionaire: $6.9 million ($125.4 million total)
Paul Blart: Mall Cop: $4.2 million ($133.6 million total)
My Predictions:
Watchmen: $73 million
Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail: $9 million
Slumdog Millionaire: $8 million
Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience: $7 million
Taken: $6 million
