Well, the results are in... and Slumdog Millionaire isn't the only winner at the Academy Awards. Well then, who is the other? The Academy Awards, of course. According to Nielsen estimates, the Hugh Jackman hosted awards ceremony ranked in 36.3 million viewers compared to last year's 32 million. Oscar viewership is up, but they still have a bit to go, in order to match what they had 9 years ago, when Billy Crystal hosted the event (46.3 million viewers). Maybe they should have added The Dark Knight and WALL-E in the best picture category. That would totally boost viewership. Those two movies got higher ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and as well as Metacritc, than some of the other best picture nominations. It also would have made for a crazy best picture race. (More on that, click here)
Anyways, this year's Oscar telecast beat out the Grammys and the Golden Globes, so it is still the number one most watched awards show. And that is a plus. Did you tune in?
