Dark Knight Passes the Billion Dollar Mark

While Slumdog Millionaire took in 8 Oscars this weekend, according to BoxOfficeMojo, The Dark Knight reached another milestone, the $1 billion mark. Ka-ching! The Dark Knight has taken in $533.1 million in the U.S. and $468 million overseas, for a total of $1.001 billion worldwide. It's about time I'd say. The Dark Knight was sitting just under that billion dollar mark for the longest time.

Anyways, with all these milestones being broken, The Dark Knight is now the 4th highest grossing movie of all time, behind Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest ($1.07 billion), Lord of the Rings: Return of the King ($1.12 billion), and that one movie, Titanic ($1.84 billion).
And it is also the highest grossing 2-D Imax movie with $64.9 million.
