Well, here we go. It is the start of the movie awards season and the critics have spoken; Slumdog Millionaire took in five awards including best director, for Danny Boyle, and best picture. It all unfolded last night at the Critics' Choice Awards in the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Another big win was a tie for best actress that went to Anne Hathaway - for Rachel Getting Married - and to Meryl Streep - for Doubt. Remember, they starred alongside each other in the hit movie The Devil Wears Prada. Other winners include a best supporting actor award for Heath Ledger - for The Dark Knight, WALL-E for best Animated movie, and... Tropic Thunder for best comedy. Now only if the Oscars had a best comedy category. We'll see if this is a precursor to The Golden Globes, which is on Sunday, or even the Oscars, come February 22nd.

It was a good night for Slumdog. I thought all of the awards it got were well deserved. i hope it has another good night in the coming award shows. I also liked Hathaway's speech. Through all the stuff she went through, it was a picture perfect moment for her, and she really made it shine. Can't wait until Sunday.
