Steve Carell's latest, puts him in the shoes Maxwell Stewart, a secret agent who battles the bad guys, which is based on the 60's television series of the same name. Now, I haven't really seen the TV show, since...well, it's way before my time, but I imagine it to be a very quirky show from the bits and pieces that I have seen.
As for the movie, I found it to be entertaining. All the actors fit perfectly, including Anne Hathaway, Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, and Alan Arkin. They will probably turn this into a movie franchise since it also did pretty well at the box office.
However, I hope they improve on the writing, and become a bit more creative with it. If they do plan to make sequels, I don't see it lasting it very long if they don't step up the writing. Some of the jokes are funny, and the actors do their job well, but a lot of the other jokes we've all seen before in other movies. I know it's supposed to be light and fluff, to target the more family-like audience, but it could use a bit more intuitiveness.
So overall, although it isn't the funniest of movies, Get Smart is an entertaining flick geared to a safe and wide audience.
