Movie Review: Jumper

Doug Liman's latest film (the director of The Bourne Identity and Mr and Mrs. Smith) is a nice treat. Now that's some positive, uplifting words for you. Well, what I did like about this movie is its concept. And its effects were kind of cool too. However, there isn't much substance throughout the 90 minute movie. There are comic book references in it, so maybe they are alluding to some superhero thing, but the only comic book kind of character is the one that Samuel L. Jackson plays. And he seems a tad out of place. I didn't find it to be a bad movie, I just wish they developed a stronger story. Even though the director regards this film as if it was the second in a franchise, so we don't need all that character development and back story, there aught to be something a bit more memorable. Well, maybe that's the problem? I don't know. All that I do know is that it is great concept, and I wish they fleshed it out more, or added a bigger budget for crazier action sequences so I forget about the plot.
