Yep. You heard it here first, second, or third, for that matter. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which was scheduled to come out November 21 of this year, has been rescheduled to July 17 2009. Why you ask? Is something wrong with the film?
You shouldn't worry. According to an interview with Warner Brothers president Alan Horn, E! reported:
"We know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release, as proven by the success of our last Harry Potter film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment."
Horn goes on to say:
"Like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers' strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films—changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of."
While Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is now scheduled to come out next year, Warner Bros. is also keeping clear the summer of 2010 and 2011 for the two part Deathly Hallows finale. So fans, you just have to keep that Hogwart's gown in the closet for just another year.
